Texture is a key element in my work, I like to use found materials that I have sourced over the years to create work that is both conceptual and physically interesting. I love to rummage through charity shops and car boot sales, using my finds to influence my work, such as old magazines, black and white photographs and fabrics dating from the 1950s through to the 1970s. I am fascinated with things from the past, not just because of their aesthetic appeal but also because of the hidden history, who did they once belong to and why were they cast away? Through taking ownership of these items, I highlight a lost past and weave myself into their history.
